Successful in Megatrends!
3U has been repeatedly successful in building powerful business models in megatrends for over 25 years: Starting with the liberalisation of telecommunications in the 1990s, we now focus on digitalisation, renewable energies and e-commerce.
3U HOLDING AG

“We are and will remain successful in megatrends! Our growth strategy is delivering. We review and refine it on a running basis, and we continue to implement it rigorously. As a management and investment company, our task as we see it is to increase the value of the company and our assets in everything we do: In the interest of our shareholders, employees and all stakeholders.”
Our portfolio companies occupy niches in their respective segments of the German market and are systematically expanding their market positions. As a medium-sized group, we generate growth through the organic expansion of our business areas, but also through suitable acquisitions of competitors and successful companies with complementary offerings. In line with our statutory mission, we engage in the acquisition, operation and disposal of assets and, as a holding company, also invest, for example, in real estate projects with high value enhancement potential.
Digitization

“Digital desert Germany! Compared to the rest of Europe, our country is years behind. But conversely, this also means that companies, especially small and medium-sized businesses, have the opportunity to make the leap into digitalisation now. Not going digital is already more expensive than entering the digital age with our support. Even today, exposure to cyber attacks is far more hazardous than using our professional protection.”
Digital communication and work tools have become an indispensable part of everyday life. Nevertheless, small and medium-sized enterprises still have a lot of catching up to do, especially in Germany. The trend toward digitalisation is only just gaining momentum for many sectors of the economy. We see it as our task and, in our view, as an opportunity to assist companies in tapping into the opportunities of digitalisation and in breaking down barriers. Against the backdrop of our early investment in the Next Generation IP network, with the aid of our secure data centres in Berlin, Hanover and Marburg, we create comprehensive, worry-free packages for companies. We also take care of the smooth and secure operation of their entire information and communications technology, right down to the last workstation. This is how we create growth areas – for our customers and for ourselves.
e-commerce
“e-commerce is a house with many doors. We break open all these doors and invite our customers to be our guests. Whether they just look, take a lot or a little with us – it doesn’t matter: winning them over for us, convincing them and making them that bit happier – that’s what we do every day!”
“e-commerce” has arrived in people’s everyday lives everywhere. Ordering on the Internet and having goods conveniently delivered to your home is an irreversible trend – even for complex products such as those in sanitary, heating and air conditioning technology. What makes our customers enthusiastic is that we reach out to them with comprehensive advice and planning support: Do it yourself – but do it right! Traditionally, we are one of the leading online suppliers of underfloor heating systems. Systems for ventilation and water management complement our wide range of private label products and products from leading manufacturers. While we have always offered our customers a wide range of options for designing their living environment in an energy-saving way, “heating without CO2” is currently becoming our forward-looking focus.
Renewable energies
“A Chinese proverb says, ‘Those who feel the wind of change should not build a windbreak, but a windmill.’ In the fight against climate change, power generation from renewable energy is the crucial tool of choice.”
Ensuring a reliable, economical and environmentally compatible energy supply is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. We see the generation of electricity by our wind and solar power plants as a small contribution to this global task. With a capacity of currently around 43 MW in our three wind farms and a nominal output of approximately 10 MWp from our solar farm, we generate an annual average of around 70,000 MWh of electricity. By replacing existing technology with state-of-the-art wind turbines (“repowering”), we will massively expand our capacity and electricity generation in the years to come.
